Try Tears by Venita Page
My friend Emily has been committed to praying weekly for her
children’s school, Cottonwood Canyon Elementary in Lake Elsinore, CA. She prays for the superintendent, principal,
school board, teachers, and the children.
What does she pray? A return to biblical
morality, safety, wisdom in decisions, improved education, and gifted teachers
full of integrity, behavior of students, and so much more.
Moms in Prayer (formally known as Moms in Touch), a ministry
whose goal it is to have moms praying for every school in America was her inspiration.
Only now, it was time for Emily to pass the baton of praying for Cottonwood Canyon
Elementary to another mom because she is moving back home to Erie, Pennsylvania.
Emily was given the opportunity to share her heart and this
need with a group of ladies at Canyon Lake Community Church. As Emily stepped up to the microphone, the
tears began to fall. No one likes to cry
in public but Emily strengthened her resolve and began to speak.
Two hours had not yet passed before Emily
received a longed for, prayed for phone call.
A women at the meeting responded to the invitation to spear head prayer
for Emily’s school. Six women at her
table committed to join her in praying for the school if she would lead. Seriously, yes!
The new volunteer shared that it was Emily’s tears that touched
her heart. Emily’s tears begged her to
step up and join the purposeful ministry of Moms in Prayer. One of my favorite stories concerning
prayer is one told of General William Booth, the founder of the Salvation
Army. It goes like this:
Two Salvation Army officers set out to found
a new work, only to meet with failure and opposition. Frustrated and tired they appealed to the
General to close the rescue mission.
General Booth sent back a telegram with two words on it, “TRY TEARS”. They followed his advice and they
witnessed a mighty revival.
Excited to be on her way back to family
and friends in PA., Emily has every intention to begin a Moms in Prayer group
in her home town. You can begin a group
or join one too! Connect at www.momsintouch.org. And remember as you pray, try tears!
